Northwest Baptist Church is a Christ-exalting, Bible-believing church. With respect to the major principles of the Christian faith clearly expressed in the Old and New Testaments, we stand firmly for the truth. In those areas that God's Written Word leaves open, we strive for mutual love and respect for each other's perspectives.
We embrace the five essential principles of the Protestant Reformation; we believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone, as fully revealed in the Scriptures alone. We hold these beliefs in a Baptist perspective. While in most major respects we are in agreement with such documents as the London Baptist Confession of 1644 and the Baptist Confession of 1689, our core beliefs are summarized by our own Statement of Faith (see "Our Beliefs").
We worship and serve our Triune God, according to the Scriptures, with all serious reverence for Him, focus on Him, and enjoyment of Him. We strive to neither be locked in by human traditions nor swept along by changing contemporary fads. We are a church committed to expositional Biblical preaching, teaching and study. We strive to reflect Biblical views of theology, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, conversion, evangelism, church membership, church discipline, Christian discipleship, and church leadership.Ultimately, we follow the one and only Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ and humbly submit all of our activities, studies and teachings to Him. Since the founding of Northwest Baptist Church in January, 1965, we have been taught and led by pastors Oscar Olson (1965-1983), Dan Butler (1983-1991), and John Tock (1992-2007). We honor the faithful teaching of God's word by these men. Recently, we have come to see multiple elder (pastor) leadership as the New Testament model for the local assembly of the Christian church. Consistent with that understanding, we have chosen two men as elders-pastors, Al Rommal and Ray Bromley.We are ordinary people drawn by the grace of the One extraordinary God.
